"Group 4 was launched in early 1999 after I asked Tom, Jason, and Dan if they would join me in what I was confident would be an exciting and unique-sounding quartet. We rehearsed maybe a couple of times, running through some charts that I already had, and then we gigged steadily for the better part of the next four years. During that time, I composed a ton of new music and we recorded an album titled There’s Room For All (CoolCraft 41-01). It was a fantastic period of music-making. The quartet’s run ended in early 2003 and we all continued with our other projects and gigs. However, the bond that had formed between the members of Group 4 was special and I guess it was inevitable that we would gear up again at some point.

About a year and a half ago, when Dan and I were having breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants, we discussed how we hadn’t played together in a long while and he just blurted out that Group 4 should reassemble to play a gig. At the time, I would not have of thought of that, even though it seems like such an obvious suggestion now. Well, as of this writing, we’ve been gigging regularly and it has been a thrilling experience for all of us. The quartet never lost stride. We fell into playing again seamlessly and I’ve been happily composing new music for the band. This is our second album, 23 Years Later. We are pumped to have Group 4 back on the scene."
